    5000m
  • Salah Hissou (Morocco) led courageously most of the race but didn't manage to open a gap and couldn't do anything against "Kenyan sprinters" in the last 400m.

    4x400m
  • Senegal women's team withdrew because of Amy Mbacke Thiam's and Tacko Diouf's injuries. Algeria also withdrew its men team due to Malik Louahla's and Adem Hecini's injuries.

    800m
  • There was only one Kenya, William Yampoi, in the 800m final. His fellow countrymen Wilfred Bungei and Nicholas Wachira didn't manage to extricate themselves from tactical heats.
