"It was too tough. The pace was all right but I made a mistake in the last 200m. I wanted to pass Said-Guerni but it was too big a move and a lot of people cut in front of me. I lost too much energy by running outside. I concentrated too much on moving outside not to get boxed. I've been running so many races inside and having people telling me it's not good. In fact I should have sticked inside like Mbulaeni did".

Just after the results appeared on the screen, 4th in 3'25"83, the Senegalese team was finally disqualified. The reason ? A mistake by Amy Mbacke Thiam who moved toward the inside to get the baton while the judges had set her on a spot in a lane in the outside.
