29 August interviews
  • Stéphane Buckland (Mauritius) - 5th of the 200m final in 20"41.

"I'm satisfied with my result today. The track was wet and tne warming-up so long today because of the rain. Maybe I was a bit stiffy. The finish of the race was so close, like in Edmonton. Tomorrow I'll go back home for the Indian Ocean Islands Games but I don't think I'll go to the African Games in Abuja. That's gonna be too much for this season".

  • Ignisious Gaisah (Ghana) - 4th of the Long Jump final with 8,13m.

"I had a great opportunity to get on the podium, so I'm very disappointed. But at the All-African Games I'm gonna make the Ghanean people happy. Today I had my legs tired and got weaker in the end, but it is still a great achievement for me, especially considering our conditions of preparation. We don't have tracksuits for the national team and haven't received any allowances yet. If we had the same conditions as others we'd get better results for sure. If they keep doing this [at the Ghanean federation], I'll just switch country in the future, I'd take any offer from a Western country. I've been competing almost every week this season. If I don't compete, I don't get any money. I was not able to get in the major meets until now, so I hope that my result will help change things".
